WHO IS THIS GUY?

I'm a lifelong resident of the SF Bay Area, where I was born, raised & educated. I have a BA in Music from Holy Names College (Class of '85), although it's been quite some time since I last made any money as a musician. (My instrument was accoustic bass.)

After I graduated, I spent four years working at a music store in Berkeley and then moved across the Bay to San Francisco in '89. The next eleven or so years were spent working a series of office temp jobs and supplementing that income with some voice-over gigs and occasional paid on-camera & stage work. I resisted the siren calls of LA and New York and instead pissed away a modest inheritance on some stage productions, among other things. (At the time, I didn't have a clue how to fundraise.)

While not lacking in ambition, I had grown overly accustomed to living as I had, focusing on the preservation of the modest little life I'd made for myself, while my various artistic talents grated on me for demanding attention, from which I tended to shrink.

Then the latest recession hit the Bay Area in '01. The relatively steady office gigs, which were plentiful during that big bull market in the '90s, had dried up, and I found myself having to rely on the my heretofore mostly unheralded talents just to avoid complete financial ruin. As a result, I've amassed a sizeable body of work on my hard drive, much of which is now on display on the web. Today, I'm quite glad I possess these talents and these talents possess me. It's about time they received their due.

Visitors to the site will notice the bulk of the content being in graphic art. I still act regularly and I'm starting to get a feel for producing. I've written a few things, too, and aim to write more.

So that's me in a nutshell. Feel free to drop me a line at ceh@colinhussey.com.
